Through artwork and photos, the exhibition “Futurographies”—opening Tuesday at the Sa Sa Bas­sac art space in Phnom Penh—reflects those changes.

Statue’s Head, Body Reunited After Generations

The head and body of a seventh-century Khmer statue were at last reunited on Thursday in Phnom Penh after an international agreement was brokered that allowed the head to be brought home to Cambodia from Paris, where it had spent the last 126 years.
After over a decade of negotiations that involved France’s Ministry of Culture and Cambodia’s Council of Ministers, the head was formally set on the body during a ceremony at the National Museum, where the complete statue will now reside.

‘Bamboo Shoots’ Move to Make Classical Dance Relevant

The performance that choreo­gra­pher and dancer Prumsodun Ok will present at the Khmer Arts The­ater in Takhmao City on Sat­­urday night is grounded in Khmer classical dance, but with a twist.
“The movements I’m using are strictly in the traditional style. But the costuming is different and, very im­portantly, the music is different: The music that I’m using is actually a pop song by Sam Smith,” Mr. Ok said on Wednesday.

Svay Sareth Wins Prize at Regional Arts Contest

Cambodian artist Svay Sareth was named Overall Best Emerging Artist at the 2016 Prudential Eye Awards for Contemporary Asian Art in Singapore on Tuesday.
He was selected among artists from across Asia by a jury that included Fumio Nanjo, director of Tokyo’s Mori Art Museum, and Honor Harger, executive director of the ArtScience Museum in Singapore.

Gov’t Aims to Have Bokator Added to UN Cultural Heritage List

The government is aiming to have the ancient martial art of bokator added to Unesco’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, a goal that was the focus of a two-day seminar on preserving and developing the sport that concluded on Tuesday.
Delegates gathered at the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia headquarters in Phnom Penh to discuss the importance of gaining the Unesco listing for the martial art, as well as plans for it to be added to the national physical education curriculum and to soldiers’ basic training.

Artist’s Live Installation Inspired by City’s Architecture

Kong Vollak expects to be tangled in steel wires and wrestling with plaster as he spends the next month working on his newest installation, “Silhouettes of Tomorrowland.”
The live installation, which Mr. Vollak began on Friday at The Asia Foundation’s Community Art Gallery in Phnom Penh, is accompanied by a display of Mr. Vollak’s prints.
